The incumbent will have a dual role which involves stock control, billing and secretarial duties in the ward and assisting the ward staff and the Unit Manager as may be necessary within reason.

Job Description

  • Assist the Unit Manager in carrying out a wide range of non-nursing duties
  • Receive and process bed bookings
  • Processing admissions, releases, and internal transfers of patients
  • Co-ordinate all activities
  • Request investigations and ambulance services when needed
  • General administration
  • Do billing and credits on a daily base
  • Stock control
  • Help nursing staff coordinate patient education, transfers, and follow up under direct supervision
  • Arrange investigative procedures as requested by Specialists (Hearth Sonars, X-rays, EEC’s etc.)

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12
  • Ward secretary experience will be an advantage
  • 2-3 years Hospital experience preferable
  • Organization skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
  • SAP experience preferable
  • Advanced computer literacy.
